Dr. Omanand Guruji a born Yogi, one of the chief disciples of Yugpurush Mahamandleshwar Swami Shri Paramanand Giriji Maharaj. He was born in Kanpur near holy river Ganges. He first began learning at ‘Vyayamshala’, a 129 years old Yoga School in Ujjain. Throughout his childhood, he preferred meditating in temples or near the river Kshipra than playing with other children. Dr. Omanand Guruji accomplishments include:
- He speaks six languages fluently.
- He is a world traveler and has been to 65 countries.
- Students who came to see him from 97 different countries succeeded. in becoming Yogis and yoginis.
- To date, 32 students have completed their doctoral studies in yoga, and 28 students are currently working on their doctoral studies under his supervision.
- He is the author of 65 yoga-related books and has done a variety of videos and talks.
- He has made appearances on numerous radio and television shows.
- He is a large inspiration to the Paramanand University Trust and Paramanand Yoga.
- He has been a meritorious student in his school courses and has received numerous recognitions. He has researched and understood several ancient texts on yoga.
He first encountered Gurudev Mahamandleshwar Swamiji Paramanand Giri Ji when he was at the mere age of eight years old. After bathing in Haridwar Kumbh Mela’s royal ceremony, Gurudev gave him the spiritual Yogi name Omananda on March 30, 2010. He was then formally given the VidvatSanyas blessings by Gurudev in Indore Ashram on July 17 2012 which enabled him to advance and share deeper knowledge of yoga across the globe
His name consists of two words, ‘Om’, which is the essence or center of everything (it could also be soundlessness), and ‘Ananad’, which relates to the highest state of happiness that can be attained. “Supreme Consciousness” is the ultimate energy of which we are all indivisible parts and components.
This Oneness, Ultimate Yoga is what we all must strive to achieve. Along with his spouse, he extends his “seva” (that’s selfless service). The goal is to assist the seekers, society, and human-kind in leading them on the correct path.
He is best described as a world wanderer, losing himself in different localities, cultures and communities around the world. In most of his interviews he explains that his life is a usage sobriety; the first one to function is the last one to teach. His visions do not come from him, they commence from the heart, he does not speak, he teaches. His motto ‘Be joyous, be in the moment’ is self speaking is easily remembered.
